Farm Friends Early Childhood Centre
Philosophy Statement |
|
|
At Farm
Friends Early Childhood Centre we offer children and families a unique
quality learning environment in a safe, rural setting. Children and
families can experience a warm, caring atmosphere in which to build and
extend relationships with each other and their community. We recognise
that children learn best through play, and encourage each child to explore
and participate at their own pace. As teachers we aim to ensure that
learning experiences challenge children's skills, knowledge and interests,
and that opportunities are not limited by gender ethnicity, culture,
ability or background.
At Farm Friends we value an
open partnership with parents and Whanau and recognised the importance of
a professional, stable teaching team, committed to their own development.
We acknowledge and respect the dual cultural heritage of the partners of
the Treaty of Waitangi, and celebrate the cultural diversity of our
community. At Farm Friends Early Childhood Centre
children will have the opportunity to:
- Feel part of a special environment
- Feel good about who they are and what they can
achieve
- Build friendships and work independently and
alongside others in small and large groups
- Explore, experiment, problem solve and take risks
- Feel confident about communicating in a range of ways
and sharing their ideas, feelings and opinions
- Take responsibility for themselves, each other, our
animals, and their environment
- Make their own choices and learn by doing
- Follow routines and work within appropriate limits
- Explore their creativity through involvement in art,
music, movement, drama, and storytelling experiences
- Build on early reading, writing, maths and science
skills
- Develop an awareness of their bicultural heritage
- Value each other for who they are and what they can
contribute
- Have fun!
